This is my biography page for the curious. I was going to call it "biographicity" which is a useful concept pioneered by Peter Alheit. how life history and experience affect the way people do things. Here's a brief timeline: 1952 - 1966 Growing up in Edinburgh 1966 - 1972 Discovered cycling, music and that I wasn't good at studying 1972 - 1978 Worked for Customs & Excise in London 1978 - 1990 Worked as a roadie of various kinds 1990 - 1994 A bit shambolic 1994 - 1996 Studied Film & Media at University of Stirling 1996 - 1997 Likewise, at University of California, Berkeley 1997 - 1998 Back to Stirling 1998 - 2002 Doctoral research, still at Stirling 2002 - 2007 Research Fellow, still at Stirling 2008 - ? Free at last, starts website I have been with my partner Jane since 199something and I have two sons, Stuart (26) and Jamie (13). We moved from Edinburgh to Grenoble in 2006.
